I study psychology and this kind of thing happens a lot. Psychology is more prone to sensationalism than other sciences, since psychology impacts every human being. Unfortunately, this means that many anecdotal stories within psychology don’t really hold up — we need to look at the peer reviewed experiments. AP psych let a lot of students down in that regard
