The problem is that cops protect other cops from civil and criminal lawsuits all the time. It’s basically impossible for cops to actually face consequences for their actions (qualified immunity, blue wall of silence, general authority over poor people and minorities etc etc).

When cops allow each other to do evil things, they’re all complicit. George Floyd was technically killed by one man, but three stood guard. The old man assaulted by the cops in buffalo? The entire force resigned in protest when the two attackers were lightly punished. They protect each other from properly facing justice
