Very interesting read. I think I’m in the camp that this is a largely good thing, regardless of Fitbit’s secrecy in the beta-testing phases. I wear one every single day to track running so I hope it can be used for broader disease detection.

I wonder if devices like these can also be used to track contagion. It already monitors location, so it wouldn’t be a stretch for it to monitor when an infected person comes in contact with other people. Probably this would be implemented after cases have largely died down after lockdown is lifted.

Many countries have implemented contagion tracking apps (mostly countries that have largely beaten the virus, like China and Iceland). This may be an alternative.
